The mighty Rogue River is 215 miles long and flows from its origin deep in the heart of Crater Lake National Park all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Within the valley lies the city of Medford, home to nearly 74,000 residents. Located approximately halfway between Portland and San Francisco, Medford boasts four beautiful, clearly defined seasons and a mild climate and an annual rainfall totals generally similar to Southern California. The city is surrounded by miles of pear orchards and offers spectacular views of snowcapped Mt. McLoughlin.

From its humble beginnings as a train depot, Medford has developed into a metropolitan hub. The town is the county seat of Jackson County, as well as the industrial and medical center of southern Oregon and northern California. Forbes magazine has recognized the Medford area as the second best small place in the country to pursue a career in business.

Recreational opportunities aplenty can be found on the Bear Creek Greenway, which meanders through Medford and connects to neighboring cities. The Greenway is spread out over 600 acres of pristine landscape and offers bike and nature trails for active outdoor enthusiasts. An evening out in Medford may include a gala performance at Southern Oregon's Center for the Performing Arts. The theater hosts entertainment ranging from circuses to symphonies to country music performers.

Price Range of Medford, Oregon Homes for Sale

The Medford real estate market is diverse and moderate housing prices attract a variety of buyers including first-time homebuyers and retirees. Residential development is in a state of sustained growth. Single-family homes in Medford are located on large lots and offer city and mountain views. Many also boast a wide variety of modern amenities. Medford home prices start around $175,000 for single-story, 3-bedroom homes, while larger, newer properties offering substantial acreage are priced in the $300,000 range and above.

Some rural properties include ponds, while others offer creek or river access. Rural residential farmland is abundant. Sprawling ranch-style houses and farms offer privacy while still being close to the cities of Medford and Jacksonville. Prices exceed $400,000 for farm properties including substantial acreage, barns and guest houses. Some large country estates are available for $1 million and more. A limited number of Medford condominiums and townhouses are available starting in the $100,000 range.
